If I buy it, I’ll look like I’ve gone under the knife

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

What do any of us want from advertising? Not as designers or brand managers, but as consumers. Tough question?
What we want from advertising is to feel like fashion can do something for us. Lilly Allen sums it up, “if I buy those jeans I can look like Kate Moss“.

So why this then?

Yes, we want to look hot.

But we also want to feel like wearing fashion (sunglasses, bikini?) can make us look hot. We don’t believe that wearing the featured fashion will make us look like we’ve been under the knife. We don’t even find the thought of that appealing.

style spy Invites Beta Testers

Monday, November 6th, 2006

Not content with running the hottest exclusive fashion network on the web, the team behind Rogue Connect are developing a trend-spotting community that’s set to capture the attention of designers, labels and fashionistas world-wide.

A simple-to-use but addictive concept, style spy will introduce the newest form of trend-setting and trend-spotting. By gauging the community’s interest in everything new from clothing and accessories to cool new gadgets, established brands to emerging designers, style spy will be ahead of everything that’s in vogue.

The website’s creators have already had a flood of offers from people wanting a first glimpse at the new application – so they’ve decided to open up an invitation for beta testers. “We are looking to perfect the design and functionality of style spy, so we’re offering people interested in fashion the opportunity to be first inside the community,” says Daniel P Dykes, one of the creators. “Beta users will be able to give us the valuable feedback we need to get everything just right”.

style spy is scheduled for its public launch at the end of the year. Unlike Rogue Connect, style spy will not be a private-members community. Anyone wishing to apply for a beta account can register their interest at http://www.stylespy.net.
