The Fashion Week Hoax or Next-To-Free Publicity

Published in Marketing by dpd | 0 comments

Don’t want to spend US$2.5 million on your next fashion show? How about getting some free publicity by way of a hoax?

That’s exactly what Trovata did at New York Fashion Week. Forget paying for a show, send actors to turn up at every show and get people talking about them. Of course, make sure they’re wearing your threads at every photo opportunity.

It cost Trovata money, but no-where-near the millions fashion week cost others. And they got more publicity out of it.

style spy has 200 trend spotters

Published in style spy by dpd | 0 comments

We’re pretty chuffed right now. With no advertising, and only by means of word of mouth, style spy has reached the 200 user mark today.

In total they’ve voted over 5,700 times on 896 trends and fashion items.

I remain the most prolific apparently. Kate Moss remains the sexiest and most stylish person. Think she’d be willing to swap qualities with me?

What Impressed Us 14.1.2007

Published in Fashion Trends by dpd | 0 comments

This week has seen a lot of previous weeks’ fashion trend submissions remain some of the most popular on style spy, making it one of the most interesting to analyse to date. First instance, the Apple iPhone has remained in the first position of ‘What’s Hot’, exactly where it was this time last week. Despite a gadget and a car both remaining in the Top 3, from the past week clothes have certainly made an impression.

  1. Etro Hooded Jacket from the recent catwalk show
  2. Our favourite model Kate Moss sported a dead sexy white dress, which appeared to have left all of style spy’s visitors in love with her. Understandably so.
  3. With the Spring Summer collections premièring for the Northern Hemisphere, a Emilio Pucci multi-coloured, two-piece bikini took third place.
  4. Michael Kors one-piece, black bikini with a waist-cinching belt
  5. ThreeAsFour two-piece, purple bikini with some very different straps on the briefs

The most popular suggestion of all time to style spy is now the Apple iPhone, with the Mini dress Trend still the most popular trend out there.

style spy has had 761 fashion items submitted to it, and 4161 votes have been cast.

Press Release: Website lets consumers set fashion trends

Published in style spy by rogue | 2 comments »

Trends come and go so quickly it’s sometimes hard to know what’s hot. But rather than have someone tell you, why not help set the trends?

style spy (http://www.stylespy.net) is the latest and most unique development in social trend-spotting. A simple-to-use and highly visual application, style spy gives you the opportunity to vote on and discuss what’s hot – helping to shape trends – as well as being up to date with what’s in and what’s out.

“style spy is so simple, it’s fun to use and we’re continually working to make it better,” says Allan Barger, 22, one of style spy’s creators.

Unlike social bookmarking, style spy is all about charting what’s hot. Trends quickly emerge as items sink or swim depending on votes from users. Content on style spy ranges from clothing and accessories to cool new gadgets, established brands to upcoming talent.

As well as being a trend bible for consumers, style spy is also a perfect tool for upcoming fashion designers and labels to promote their wares and bring their designs to the attention of a wider audience.
